A combination of dimmable lights and sunshades/ blackout shades will not only reduce your electric bill, but make a home or business more inviting. Imagine walking into your home with an armload of groceries, fumbling for a light switch. How many times can we scratch our heads and wish for a solution. |

With a lighting control package from Lutron, it can be done. With a press of your garage door opener, the lights will turn on and create a path to welcome you home. You won’t need to run around turning on lights to feel welcomed in your house. While at home, you can press a keypad button to activate different “scenes.” A scene is a group of lights that when dimmed or turned off will create a mood. For instance, press “Dine” and the dining room lights activate at 75%, the living room lights dim to 30% as well as the kitchen. All the other lights will either turn off, or got to a very low setting. Press “Entertain” and the main common areas light up to 80-90% brightness, while the private areas will be either dimmed or turned off. Going to bed, press “Goodnight” and all the lights in the house will turn off except for night time paths (we hate to stub our toes in the dark too). Running late in the morning? Press the garage door remote to close the door, and all the lights will turn off for you. Imagine leaving for work or play and not have to worry if you turned out all the lights.

Sunshades and blackout shades can reduce your electric bill considerably. If you have direct sunlight entering your house in the summer, your AC unit will work overtime to compensate the massive heater beaming inside (the Sun). If you blocked out say 90% of the Sun’s rays, that will allow your AC unit to cycle itself and reduce your electric bill. Depending on the sunshade fabric used, the view from the windows should not be impeded. If you worked at night, just lower the blackout shade for the ultimate privacy and comfort. One of the side benefits of a shading solution is prolonged life of floors, furniture and artwork since sunlight can be so damaging. For example, we have a customer who has Brazilian cherry wood floors. The window wall is facing the afternoon sun and he couldn’t enjoy his living room without wearing sunglasses. The floors have faded considerably and the AC unit was running full blast all the time. We installed sunshades and blackout shades on his 30’ windows. Now, the customer’s wood floors will not fade any more than normal, the living room is now fully functional, and most importantly, the AC unit is cycling itself. The customer has seen a reduction in his electric bill by about 20%. We have all kinds of fabric to suite your needs, being sunshades, blackout shades, decorative or even Roman shades. We support local businesses: All of our Sunshades are produced in Austin, TX.
